How to Wear Mustard Yellow This Autumn

One of the most popular colours throughout autumn is mustard yellow. From jumpers and coats, to scarves and accessories, there’s something for everyone. So, how to wear mustard yellow this autumn? For me, I’ve chosen to wear it in the style of a dress, but there are so many ways to wear this colour…

Transitioning between the seasons is often an exciting way to mix up the outfits you have in your wardrobe. I bought this shift dress back in the summer, but I knew the colour would be perfect for autumn. Transitional outfits are all about layering, so I paired this dress with a faux leather jacket and thigh-high boots.

I chose to keep this outfit quite minimal, with the main focus being the mustard yellow. It’s such a bold, statement colour, I decided to keep the rest of the colours very simple and solid. The black and yellow complement one another, and the boots, jacket, and bag look lovely with the dress.

What’s great about mustard is that it combines well with many different colours, such as: burgundy, green, tan, and even white! Alternatively, you could wear mustard with patterns. Stripes, polka dots, and houndstooth are great prints to experiment with, as they’re bold and feminine. You could incorporate these prints in the form of a skirt, shoes, coats, or even accessories! Style them in a way you feel most comfortable.

Denim also looks great with mustard yellow, as it’s versatile and goes with everything. You could wear a mustard jumper with a pair of jeans, for a smart casual look. Whether it’s blue, black, or white jeans, mustard goes with them all. If jeans aren’t your thing, you could style it alongside a skirt – both with or without tights. There are plenty of outfit options!

I’ve styled it in a bold way, but if you’d rather be more subtle, you could wear a neutral outfit, and add a pop of mustard with the accessories you style it with. It’s about having fun and styling this autumnal colour in a way that makes you feel confident!

• Think about what you’d wear with it. Simplicity is key, and mustard yellow goes with lots of neutral colours. It also looks great with denim, so you can mix and match it with pieces you already own.
