Autumn has officially begun, and it’s time to start transitioning outfits between seasons. One of my favourite trends at the moment is thigh-high boots (aka ‘over the knee boots’), as they can really change the whole dynamic of an outfit. But, how do you wear thigh-high boots?

I spent a long time searching for the ‘perfect pair’, before I finally decided on these boots, from Public Desire. They’re made from a black, faux suede material, with a little bit of a stretch. Thigh-high boots are so popular, it’s quite easy to find a pair that isn’t too expensive, that also look and feel great.
The sock fit design helps ensure they fit nice and snug to your legs, without being too restrictive or loose. I haven’t found these fall down when I walk, which is a bonus, as I know a lot of styles do! I also love the size of the heel and the peep-toe design. They’re perfect over the knee boots for transitioning between seasons.

So, how to wear thigh-high boots? When it comes to styling these, there isn’t really a right or wrong way to wear them. They go with so many different outfits, which is why I love them! I chose to wear mine with a black, faux suede mini skirt, keeping the material and style very similar. The skirt finishes at the right length so that the amount of skin shown between the skirt and boots is just enough.
Thigh-high boots are a wardrobe staple item of mine, because of their versatility. You can wear them with whatever makes you feel most comfortable – whether that’s jeans, dresses, skirts, etc.

Thigh-High Boots Outfit
With the rest of my outfit, I chose to style the skirt and boots with a black graphic t-shirt. I tied it in at the waist (with a hair tie) to make it a little more cropped and flattering. The top on its own is quite baggy, which isn’t the vibe I was going for with this outfit. I also added a black, faux suede choker, which really brings the whole outfit together. I finalised the look with a pink, cropped bomber jacket, to add a pop of colour, but it looks great with or without this addition.

Shopping Tips for Thigh-High Boots:
- If you’re going to buy your first (or next) pair of over the knee boots, I would suggest going for a black pair. Black goes with anything and fits any season, which makes it much easier to style an outfit.
- Try different boots made from different materials to get the perfect pair for you. The ones I have in this post are made from faux suede. They’re comfortable and stretchy enough to fit my legs, without being too tight or baggy.
- Experiment! Don’t give up if the first pair you try don’t feel ‘right’. There are hundreds of styles and colours out there, it’s a matter of trying different styles to see what works best.
- You don’t have to spend a fortune, but it’s also worth investing in a pair of thigh-high boots that’ll last a long time. It’ll save you money in the long run from having to keep replacing them!
