Exactly one year ago today, I published my first blog post.

If you said to me a year ago that I'd be sitting here right now, writing this post, celebrating my first year as a blogger, I wouldn't have believed you. When I first started my blog, it was a hobby. Something to focus on whilst I tried to decide what I wanted to do as a career. I had no idea. I was going to bed each night in tears because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, and I felt like I couldn't see a way out of it. I needed something to relieve me of that feeling, even just for the length of a blog post. The more I was working on my blog, the more I started to realise that it was no longer a gap-filler, but more that I was starting to work towards my career.. A career in the blogging world. I've never felt so sure of what I want to do in life, and now, a year later, on the first anniversary of starting my blog, I feel happier than I have in a long time.

I cannot believe it's been a whole year since I started my blog - it has gone so quickly! I didn't really know what to expect when I first started out on here. Everything was so new, and there were already so many amazing bloggers bossing the industry, it was a little overwhelming to begin with. Although it has only been a year, I am so proud of what I've achieved so far (and actually sticking to it), and I cannot wait to continue working hard and improve my skills. When I look back at my first few blog posts, I can immediately see the difference between then and now. My photos look better now than they first did, my editing is better, and I'm writing a lot more in each post. Even just seeing differences like that show me how much I've grown over this past year, and how there is always room for improvement. I'm sure when I look back on these posts next year, on my second anniversary, I'd have changed/improved again, and this inspires me to keep going.

I sometimes think about what my life would be like right now if I didn't take that leap of faith, and publish that first post. But every time I think about it, I'm just so glad that I did. The state of my mental health has improved, and I feel like a different and happier person since starting my blog, and I wouldn't be able to have done all of this without the support of every single one of you who have ever taken the time to read my blog posts. I cannot thank you enough. My blog is still very much a hobby, but I am more determined and focused than ever to achieve my goals, and to be able to say that my blog (and YouTube) is my career. Some people may say that they are unrealistic goals, but I will keep working hard to do the best that I can, and seeing other bloggers achieve their individual goals inspires me to achieve mine. There is room in the industry for everyone, because your blog should reflect you and your personality, and there's only one of you.

Thank you all again for supporting me this past year - it means more to me than I could ever explain. Thank you for taking time out of your days to read my posts. Thank you for following me on my social media, and growing with me over this last year. I don't know what will be in store for my second year of blogging, but I'm so excited to see what happens next...

Some of the items I'm wearing in this post are no longer available online, so I have linked the closest products I could find. These are marked with an asterisk. (*)

We’re almost at the end of April, and although spring is now here, the weather is still ever changing. Some days we have gorgeous sunshine, and the next it’s cloudy and chilly, but that’s English weather, I suppose..!

This jumper is ideal to wear during the transitional period between winter and spring, as it’s still not quite warm enough to go out without some sort of jacket or jumper on, but it’s (thankfully) not cold enough to need much more than a jumper. What stood out to me when I first saw this in H&M, was the zip and slit detailing on either side of the waist. The neutral colour and simplistic design give this jumper complete versatility, as it could be worn with pretty much anything and still look amazing. I chose to wear it alongside a pair of ripped jeans and heeled sock boots, for a casual daytime look. I think this style of jumper can make any outfit look effortless, because the zips and slits on either side give it a more flattering and edgy look. Although this detail is minimal, it just goes to show how something so simple can really add to, and change, the overall look of an outfit. Another feature I love about this jumper is that it is slightly longer at the back than it is at the front. This is down to the zip and slit design on either side, but it also gives it a more relaxed fit.

I’ve been looking for a pair of ripped jeans for ages, but I’m quite fussy when it comes to choosing jeans. They can be a pretty expensive investment, so choosing the right pair is crucial. Skinny jeans are my favourite style, as I feel they suit me and my figure the most. I tried on so many pairs before I bought these, but every pair I tried was either too baggy around the ankles, or too loose on the backs of my legs. I then stumbled across these jeans whilst having a look around River Island. They are actually part of their Molly Jeggings range, which is my favourite style of their jeans. They are stretchy, just like leggings, but have the quality and feel of jeans. They were £42 when I bought them, which is a little bit expensive, but I was happy to pay for the quality and fit, as they are much better than other pairs that I tried on elsewhere. The rips in these jeans are in the right places to flatter my legs, and they are also really comfortable to wear, as the material the rips are made from is slightly elasticated. I also love the colour of these, as I mostly have black/dark blue jeans, so it’s nice to have a slightly lighter pair to add to my collection. I am yet to find a pair of skinny ripped jeans that are better than these, and I’d definitely recommend trying them if you’re looking for a new pair!

How insane are these boots?! It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with Public Desire and their huge range of gorgeous shoes. These heeled sock boots are perfect to wear with so many different outfits, as the heels are thick, making them easier to wear during the day. I paired them with a casual daytime outfit, but you could also dress them up for more of an evening look. One of the easiest day-to-night looks you could achieve with these boots would be with a jumpsuit - you could also throw on a denim or bomber jacket, to complete your look. I decided to buy these boots in Nude, because I don’t own any other boots in this colour, and the neutral colour means that, just like the jumper, I could wear them with pretty much anything. I like to be practical when buying new clothes/shoes, as I want to know that I’ll be able to get as many uses out of them as possible! With these, I know that I have the option of wearing them with most things, so this won’t be an issue. The sock fit design looks great with these skinny jeans, as it gives a fitted look to my legs, and they just look amazing in general.

Spring is finally here, and it's about time too! There's just something about the warmer days and lighter evenings that makes me feel so much happier. Plus the lighter evenings make taking blog photos so much easier, right?! The start of a new season is the perfect excuse for a new wardrobe, and spring is ideal for a whole range of gorgeous new clothes. After months of dull weather throughout the winter, it's great to start seeing bright and colourful clothes and accessories in shops, ready for the fresh spring months ahead.

I thought I'd create a wish list for my spring must-haves, as I'm already obsessing over a bright new wardrobe. I've also just bought (and assembled myself, I might add) a new open wardrobe from IKEA, so what better way to start filling it, than with some lovely new clothes for spring...

The following items are from some of my favourite sites, including: ASOSMissguided and Pretty Little Thing
